Fair Chance Nepal Foundation is a young, ambitious non-profit organization based in the Netherlands. We are dedicated to give underprivileged children in Nepal a fair chance at a good future. That future begins with a proper education. With the help of sponsors, we help children by funding their school career.
Because we are a small organization and operate purely on a voluntary basis, in The Netherlands and Nepal as well, we are able to keep our operating costs to a minimum.
To keep our sponsors involved and informed with our developments we sent out newsletters, post blogs on our website (Dutch only) and send emails. Email correspondence is of course available in English.
Fair Chance has 3 separate projects:
- Our main project is the Basic Education Fund. With this fund we pay for all the costs of primary and secondary schooling. This includes school fee, exam fee, uniforms, books, pens, et cetera. Because we provide funding for their child’s education, parents can focus on creating a healthy environment for their child to grow up in. The average school costs per child is 15 euro’s per month,
- For a few children, we also provide funding for other living expenses, through our Boarding School Fund. The costs of a boarding school are higher than those of a regular school. The costs are usually 60 euro’s per month extra and therefore we try to keep the number of students in a boarding school to a minimum.
- After completing secondary school some students are given the chance to attend college. The necessary funding is provided through our Fair Chance College Fund. The difference between this fund and the two mentioned earlier is that this funding is based on a loan. Students will have to repay the loan after completing their study. The repayment starts when the (former) student has finished their study and has found a job. This way the money can be spent over and over again, which makes this fund self-sufficient.
